Christine and Jared’s journey into property didn’t begin with urgency—it began with inspiration.

After first discovering Teach Me About Property (TMAP) in 2022, they watched from a distance. Stories of everyday families building portfolios, young people buying their first investments, and others scaling to five or six properties caught their attention.

But like many families, life was already full. Careers were stable, travel was a priority, and property investing remained something they would “get to later.”

It wasn’t until April 2025 that they made the decision to act.

Comfortable, But Without a Clear Plan

Before joining TMAP, Christine and Jared weren’t struggling.

They had built a lifestyle they enjoyed—working in IT and cybersecurity, travelling regularly, and maintaining financial stability. But when it came to long-term wealth, something was missing.

There was no structured plan.

Like many people, they had ideas:

  • Maybe one or two investment properties
  • Save first, then buy
  • Play it safe

But those ideas never turned into a clear, actionable strategy. The future felt distant—something to think about later.

Turning “Someday” Into a Strategy

What changed wasn’t their ambition—it was their clarity.

Through TMAP, Christine and Jared began to understand what was actually possible. Instead of guessing, they were able to map out a structured plan aligned with their goals.

What once felt vague suddenly became tangible. Their first property purchase followed soon after deciding to act – albeit three years after joining. Now, they are already progressing toward their second, exploring strategies like SMSFs to continue building their portfolio.

What stood out most wasn’t just the strategy—it was the shift in thinking. Initially, two properties felt like a comfortable goal. Then they were shown a different perspective: What if it could be ten? That single shift expanded what they believed was possible.

Education First. Then Action.

When reflecting on their journey so far, two elements stand out: education and action. For years, they had been thinking about property.

Now, they had a plan—and more importantly, they were executing it. This is a pattern seen across TMAP students:

  • Education builds understanding
  • Action turns that understanding into results

The difference is not just knowledge, but guided implementation. Through mentorship, access to opportunities, and exposure to real numbers and scenarios, Christine and Jared were able to move forward with confidence rather than hesitation.

Overcoming the Biggest Fear: Lifestyle

One of the biggest concerns for many families is simple: “Will investing in property force us to give up the life we enjoy?”

For Christine and Jared, this was non-negotiable. They had worked hard to build a lifestyle that included regular travel and flexibility—and they weren’t willing to sacrifice it. What they discovered was unexpected.

After securing their first investment property and placing tenants, they saw that the impact on their day-to-day lifestyle was minimal. In fact, the opposite happened.

Throughout the year they started their property journey, they continued to travel. That experience created a turning point: Property and lifestyle weren’t competing goals. They could work together.

A New Understanding of Money and Debt

Another major shift came in how they viewed money itself. Like many people, the idea of debt had always been associated with risk. But through education, they began to understand the difference between:

  • Consumer debt (liabilities)
  • Income-producing debt (assets)

This shift—from avoiding debt to using it strategically—opened up new possibilities. Instead of relying solely on savings, they could now use property as a tool to generate income and build long-term wealth.

What’s Next: Building Toward 10 Properties

Christine and Jared are still early in their journey—but the direction is now clear. With their first property secured and their second underway, they are focused on building momentum.

Their long-term vision? A portfolio of ten properties and the ability to retire comfortably, supported by income generated through their investments. More importantly, they now have something they didn’t have before: A structured, repeatable plan.

The Message for Other Families

Christine and Jared’s story reflects a common starting point: Comfortable, busy, and unsure where to begin. The difference wasn’t motivation—they already had that. The difference was structure.

Their journey highlights a simple but powerful truth: You don’t need to sacrifice your lifestyle to build wealth. You need a plan that allows both to exist. And once that plan is in place, the future stops feeling distant—and starts becoming real.
