If you’re a Kiwi living in Australia and you own a property back in New Zealand—or expect to inherit one—you’re in a powerful position. But many people don’t realise that this equity can help you purchase a property here in Australia.
At TMAP, we teach everyday Kiwis how to turn passive equity into active strategy.
💰 Got Equity in NZ? Let’s Use It
Here’s how to make that New Zealand property work for you:
✅ Refinance in NZ
You may be able to refinance or top up your New Zealand mortgage. That cash can become your deposit for an Aussie purchase. Many lenders in NZ allow this, even while you’re living overseas.
✅ Smart Lending Structures
You don’t need to cross-collateralise and risk your family home. We show you safer lending options to extract equity without overexposing yourself.
✅ Brokers Who Understand Both Sides
Our broker partners understand Kiwis. They know how to make your Kiwi equity count, even if your income is based in Australia.
🏠 Inherited Property in NZ?
If you’re about to inherit a property—or already have—we can help you plan ahead.
Even if the property isn’t officially yours yet, we call this a pre-equity strategy. We help you prepare now, so when that equity becomes available, you’re ready to act fast in the Aussie market.
You can also look at early agreements between family members, or begin planning for refinancing once you’re on the title.
🔒 What About KiwiSaver?
You can’t use KiwiSaver to buy a house in Australia. That withdrawal is only for first homes in New Zealand.
But don’t worry—you still have options.
✅ Transfer Your KiwiSaver to Aussie Super
After 12 months living in Australia, you can apply to transfer your KiwiSaver into an Australian super fund. It must be part of the Trans-Tasman Portability Agreement.
✅ Use Super to Buy Property (with an SMSF)
Once your KiwiSaver money lands in an Aussie super (or SMSF), you can explore using super to buy investment property.
We teach this inside our IRS: SMSF Strategy—and it works.
🚀 Kiwis Are Already Doing It
You’re not alone. Many Kiwi students in TMAP have already bought property here in Australia using equity from home. Some used inheritance. Others topped up their mortgage. A few even started with just $5,000 using our LMD strategy.
