As we kick off 2025, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what truly matters and set our intentions for the year ahead. For many, including the team at Teach Me About Property, the focus this year centres on the Four F’s: family, faith, fitness, and finances. Let’s zoom in on fitness today—a pillar that doesn’t just impact health but can also influence how we show up for everything else in life.

The 75 Hard Challenge

At the 2024 Teach Me About Property Summit, Massey spoke about how he planned to undertake the 75 Hard Challenge. If you’ve never heard of it, 75 Hard is a mental toughness program disguised as a fitness challenge. The rules are simple but tough:

  1. Two workouts per day – One must be outdoors.
  2. Read 10 pages of a book – No audiobooks allowed!
  3. Drink a gallon of water daily – That’s 3.75 litres for Aussies.
  4. Take a daily progress photo – No exceptions.
  5. Follow a diet – Your choice, but no cheat meals or alcohol.

Miss a single task, and you’re back to day one.

Lessons from Failure: Why 75 Hard is So Hard

Like many, I’ve attempted this challenge before and fallen short. But failure isn’t defeat—it’s a lesson in disguise. Here’s where I tripped up and what I’ve learned so far:

  • Water Timing Matters
Drinking litres of water before bed? Not a great idea unless you enjoy sleepless nights and frequent trips to the bathroom. Hydration needs to be spread across the day.
  • Progress Photos Are Easy to Forget
Taking a photo every day might sound simple, but it’s easy to overlook, especially if it’s not part of your routine.
  • Use the Tools Available
There’s an app for 75 Hard that reminds you of daily tasks. I wasn’t using it, and it cost me dearly.
  • Build a Routine
The best way to succeed is to complete tasks early. When left until the last minute, disruptions are almost guaranteed.
  • Expect Disruptions
Life doesn’t pause for your goals. Schedules get messy, and challenges crop up. It’s important to prepare for these moments and stay committed.

Failure as a Teacher

Failure isn’t the end—it’s a chance to grow. When approached with the right mindset, failure can become one of life’s greatest teachers. Reflecting on past mistakes, adjusting routines, and preparing for challenges helps ensure those same issues don’t derail future efforts.

This lesson doesn’t just apply to fitness—it’s equally relevant in property and wealth creation. Many families begin their journey, hit setbacks, and lose momentum. But just like with fitness, the key is to learn from those setbacks and return with a better plan.

Applying the Lessons to Property

The same principles of persistence and reflection apply to building wealth. Maybe you started saving for a property but got distracted by unexpected expenses. Or you made a plan, only to lose focus along the way. These missteps don’t mean you’ve failed—they’re an opportunity to reassess and adjust.

That’s where Teach Me About Property comes in. We’re here to guide you through the ups and downs, helping you refocus and stay on track. Whether 2025 is the year you buy your first property or add to your portfolio, the goal is to keep moving forward.
